Mentor Program

Transplants for Children and Big Brothers Big Sisters, Alamo Area, have joined together to form a new mentor program for transplant recipients and their siblings. This collaboration will provide fun, creative, and safe opportunities for children ages 5–18 who are involved with Transplants for Children to meet a Big Brother or Big Sister through the mentor program.

National research has shown that the positive relationships between Big Brothers and Big Sisters and their Littles have a direct, measurable, and lasting impact on children’s lives. Children matched in the BBBS program participate in a wide range of activities with a positive adult role model at their side to encourage and support them. A Transplants for Children Big can offer special support to a younger transplant recipient by associating with their unique and individual challenges.

All mentors must be transplant recipients or immediate family members of a transplant recipient.
