STARS

STARS (Striving Towards And Realizing Success) is a program geared toward pre- and post-transplant recipients ages 10 through 18. The program seeks to help teens prepare for the future, build self-esteem, become aware and involved in their communities, and develop long-lasting relationships with other young transplant recipients. Upon completion of the program, participants receive a $1,000 scholarship to continue their education after they graduate from high school.

In order to receive a scholarship STARS participants must attend 6 of 9 monthly meetings and complete 8 community service hours. The program runs from September through May. Some events include “Meet and Greet,” Ropes Course, College Day, a trip to the theater, and an end-of-the-year family event.
