American Heart Association

Mission: Reduce disability and death from cardiovascular diseases and stroke.

American Kidney Fund

Mission: Serving people with and at risk for kidney disease through direct financial assistance, comprehensive education, clinical research and community service programs.

Mission: To provide research, education and advocacy for those affected by hepatitis and other liver-related diseases.

American Music Therapy Association

Blood & Marrow Transplant Information Network

Mission: Dedicated exclusively to serving the needs of persons facing a bone marrow, blood stem cell or umbilical cord blood transplant.

Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation

Mission: To provide support, education and advocacy for children and adolescents with cancer, survivors of childhood/adolescent cancer, their families, and the professionals who care for them.

How They Help: A great site for those affected by cancer. Educational material, cancer camps, message board, political information


Children’s Organ Transplant Association

Mission: To provide assistance for children needing life-saving transplants and promote organ, marrow and tissue donation.

Coalition on Donation: National Site

Mission: Dedicated to inspiring all people to donate life through organ, eye and tissue donation.

How They Help: Laws governing donation by state, donation facts, promote donation material


Make A Child Smile

Mission: To provide emotional and financial support to families whose children suffer from chronic or life-threatening illnesses and also give those who visit the MACS site the opportunity to participate by sending mail to the children.

How They Help: Sign-up to receive cards, write cards to cancer patients, stitch quilts for a child, emotional and financial support


National Children’s Cancer Society

Mission: Improve the quality of life for children with cancer by promoting children's health through financial and in-kind assistance, advocacy, support services and education.

How They Help: Cancer resources, newsletter, connect with other families, financial assistance, educational material


National Kidney Foundation

Mission: To prevent kidney and urinary tract diseases, improve the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by these diseases, and increase the availability of all organs for transplantation.

How They Help: Information on health issues and a health guide. This site is a must visit for kidney pre- and post-transplant recipients and their families!


National Marrow Donor Program

Mission: To connect patients, doctors, donors and researchers to resources they need to help more people live longer, healthier lives.

How They Help: Disease information, financial and insurance assistance, FAQs


Patient Advocate Foundation

Mission: To safeguard patients through effective mediation assuring access to care, maintenance of employment and preservation of their financial stability.

How They Help: Legal assistance, resolve job discrimination or insurance issues, insurance information


South Texas Blood and Tissue Center

Mission: To collect blood and tissue from volunteer donors and to provide the community with the highest quality health care at the lowest possible cost.

Texas Organ Sharing Alliance

Mission: To maximize quality organ donation within the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance service area and provide the regional transplant centers and the National Organ Procurement Transplant Network with a professional and responsive organ recovery program.

Transplant Living Provided by UNOS

Mission: Addresses many important physical, emotional, and financial matters that should be considered.

The Transplant Patient Partnering Program

Mission: To provide others with a realistic understanding of the transplant experience.

How They Help: Information on kidney, heart, liver, and lung transplants, family issues, printable booklets on pre-transplant, post-transplant and during your transplant.


Transplant Recipients International Organization (TRIO)

Mission: Committed to improving the quality of life of transplant candidates, recipients, their families, and the families of organ and tissue donors.

United Network for Organ Sharing

Mission: Non-profit, scientific and educational organization that administers the nation's only Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network.

How They Help: Transplant data, information to promote organ donation and patient resources (brochures, links, and fact sheets)
